Paramount LondonDeveloper London Resort Company Holdings (LRCH) revealed more ideas for what visitors can expect when the park opens its doors in 2020 – if all continues to go ahead for as hoped.

Spectacular shows, a mythical castle and a revamped road system have all been promised in the latest release of plans to build a huge entertainment resort in Swanscombe. New artist illustrations have been released to the public giving an idea of how the park would look like if it is given the green light by the Secretary of State when plans are submitted in late summer.

It was also revealed that another round of public consultation will get under way with the first at Gravesend Old Town Hall followed by another on at Bluewater shopping centre with more in the coming weeks. LRCH said the park would be “a catalyst for regeneration in the area including the delivery of the Ebbsfleet Garden City and would bring a multi-million pound investment to Dartford and Gravesham and the rest of Kent. An alternative design for a dedicated exit on the A2 for traffic heading for the resort was also announced.

The entertainment resort will contain a number of themed zones – including Port Plaza, Paramount Port Bay, Adventure Isle, and a Myths and Legends Castle, according to documents. Every day in the late afternoon a “Paramount and Friends Carnival” is planned to take place, followed by a “spectacular show” celebrating the works of Paramount Pictures and other content partners such as the BBC and Wallace and Gromit creators Aardman Productions. The attraction would also see the construction of one of the largest indoor water parks in Europe, as well as a 1,500 seat theatre with regular “West-End quality” shows, and a 5,000 bedroom on-site hotel.

Changes to the A2 and surrounding road system would include a dedicated dual carriageway access road for theme park visitors, separate from local traffic flow. Other congestion-easing measures could include later opening and closing times to reduce the impact upon peak travel hours, alternative travel arrangements for staff on busy days at the resort, and breakdown patrol vans available along the A2 to reduce delays caused by breakdowns and accidents.

The developer is also planning on making good use of public transport, including enhancing the Fastrack bus network, creating a high frequency train service from Ebbsfleet International Station to the resort, and making use of the Thames with a river bus service. PARAMOUNT PARK OPEN IN 2018
12th October 2012
  • Theme Park to open in Swanscombe, Kent
  • It will be 3rd biggest in the world
  • 27,000 jobs to be created

The proposed plan for the new theme park in Kent

Paramount Park Plans have been submitted to Kent council to built a new spectacular theme park in Swanscombe.

Paramount studios are behind the group wanting to built the new park within close distance to the City of London. The land in swanscombe has been used for industrial companies until recently and now wasteland. Paramount intend to build the park and feature rides based on famous films such as Titanic. There is still a long way to go before this park gets an official go ahead, but would bring a huge amount of tourism and jobs to the area. Many local people are surprised that the worlds 3rd largest theme park could be built on their doorsteps but there are good transport links nearby and it is on the banks of the river Thames.

Are you looking forward to a new theme park being built in Kent or are you worried about the effect on the local environment? Tell us your story...
