Brand New Steam Engine Attraction

Harry Potter Warner Bros Studios have announced that the brand new Hogwarts Express attraction will be unveiled to the public on Thursday March 19th 2015.

The new ride includes the original Hogwarts Express steam engine and a recreation of Platform 9 ¾. The new section will offer visitors an insight into how some of the films’ most iconic scenes were created as well as give them the chance to climb aboard the train’s carriage and to pose with a luggage trolley as it disappears through the platform wall.

Every part of the platform’s glass roof, yellow brick walls and luggage racks will be reassembled by a team led by Construction Manager Paul Hayes and dressed by Set Decorator Rosie Goodwin. Special Effects Supervisor John Richardson will rig the locomotive with special effects steam to create a real iconic adventure.

Visitors will be able to pose with a luggage trolley, explore the interior carriage that was used during filming and see a selection of prop luggage and find out which character owned which items. There will also be a train inspired souvenir shop on the platform where shoppers can browse a wide range of train-temed goodies.

ROYAL VISIT TO HARRY POTTER
29th April 2013
  • Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry attend tour
  • Children and adults from the charities they support join them
  • Trio presented with Harry Potter wands

The royals enjoyed a visit to the studios

Harry PotterThe Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry recently attended the Harry Potter experience for the inauguration of Warner Bros Studios in Hertfordshire.

During their visit, Kate and William were invited to take a wand each before being shown a few ‘spell techniques’ and were then invited to duel with each other using the wands. The party, who were accompanied by 500 guests and children associated with the charities they support, had visited another part of the studios where they were shown props from Batman film The Dark Knight Rises. William and Harry were very interested a the camouflaged Batmobile known as the Tumbler. William turned to Prince Harry and whispered 'We should borrow that for the weekend.'

Warner Bros.’ £100 million facility, the first of its kind to be built in the UK in 70 years, accounts for over 30% of the dedicated major feature film production stage space in the UK. It is the only film studio in the country to be owned and operated by a major Hollywood studio. Formerly the production home of all eight Harry Potter films, Goldeneye, Star Wars Episode 1 - The Phantom Menace and Tim Burton’s Sleepy Hollow, the state-of-the-art studios now encompass nine sound stages, a 100 acre back-lot and one of the largest underwater filming tanks in Europe. It is available to all kinds of productions, not just Warner Bros., from commercials to music videos, TV shows to feature films.
